Mum’s Stroke.
A very good morning to our honoured guests, esteemed panel of judges, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Siti Baizura Binti Hassan, I’m from the Penang State Secretariat Housing Department, but my office is located at Tmn Free School. Today I would like to talk about my mum who had a stroke recently
Last year, after the birth of my second child, I decided to stayed at my mum’s house for my confinement period. My mum took care of me,bathed my baby, cooked, and did a traditional treatment for me.
One morning, after about 30 days of my confinement period, my mum told me that after the Subuh prayers, she felt weak on the right side of her body. I’ve noticed these changes. She could not talk clearly. Her mouth looked different too.
After my bath and dressed my two sons, I brought my mum to nearest clinic, even though I was not supposed to go out yet. Mum went there alone and I just waited inside the car because my baby was sleeping. In less than 15 minutes, my mum already came out from the clinic, I saw an envelope in her hand but no medication.Mum told me the doctor asked her to go to the General Hospital.
When we arrived there, I had to hold my mum’s hands because at that time she was walking almost to wards the right side.I had to carry my baby on my left. After take the number,we wait until my mum’s turn came. I just waited outside with my sons. After waiting for a long time, I decided to enter the room. I saw my mum lying down on the bed. When I asked, what happened, the doctor told me, my mum had a stroke. And he said that she was lucky because I sent her early to the hospital otherwise he did not know what would happen. The doctor asked me, if my mum had eaten or had stress at home. I said that the night before she was fine. But I remembered my mum ate a lot of durians. And The doctor said that maybe that my mum’s blood preasuer was increased.
The doctor said my mum had to stay at the hospital for the treatment. I saw my mum crying, she said she could not talk. Her body felt very, very weak, that time only God knew what I feet inside, I cried inside my heart, I didn’t want her to feel sad to see me cry. So I calmed her down.(part ni mmg aku sebak dan teriak, nak wat camna kan, aku ja yg rasa)
After four days, my mum decided to be discharged and stay at my house. From that moment, I did everything for my mum to make her back to normal, It’s not easy, I sacrificed everything for my mum. I took her for acupuncture, a Chinese treatment using needles, ceragem, Korean bed treatment, Malay and Indonesian massage, I’ve also borrowed a small massage machine from my friend.I also took her to a private Hospital because my sister told me that there was a good Neurologist there.
I’ll do anything to my mum. From that day I’ve learned many things. For example, I know what medicine we have to take if someone showed symptoms of stroke. It’s called Nootrophil. Nowadays I’m very concerned about what food my mum eats. But one thing I noticed until now my mum’s not eating the King of Fruits, the durian. So from this true story I hope all of us will supervise our diet, take healthy food, and exercise for our own health. My mum getting healthier and better than before. Alhamdulillah, Thank You.
